The Lethbridge Lightning are the 2025 Ranchland Hockey League (RHL) champions after defeating the Nanton Palominos in a best-of-seven series, clinching the title with a 6-1 victory in Game 5.
The series opened at the Tom Hornecker Recreation Center on February 28, where the Palominos shut out the Lightning 2-0 to take an early 1-0 series lead. However, Lethbridge responded in Game 2, winning a hard-fought 3-2 overtime battle to even the series at 1-1 on the road.
The Lightning then took control in Game 3 on March 7 at Nicolas Sheran Arena, putting on an offensive showcase in an 11-6 victory to grab a 2-1 series lead. They followed that up with a convincing 7-3 win in Game 4, setting the stage for a championship-clinching Game 5 back in Nanton.
On March 14, the Lightning left no doubt, dominating the Palominos 6-1 in Game 5 to secure the RHL Championship. Their high-powered offense and solid defensive play proved too much for Nanton, completing their impressive run to the title.
