The Ranchland Hockey League (RHL) recently held its annual on-ice awards ceremony at the Nicholas Sheran Arena in Lethbridge, Alberta, honouring the standout performers of the 2024–2025 season. The event took place on March 8th, 2025, just before the Lethbridge Lightning faced off against the Nanton Palominos in a thrilling playoff match-up.
The Nanton Palominos, who had an impressive season, were well-represented among the award recipients. Starting at the top, Pal's Head Coach Tyler Butler was awarded Coach of the Year leading his team to winning the title as League Champions with the most wins in the regular season.

Pal's Forward Tyler Watungwa was named Rookie of the Year, showcasing his immediate impact on the league. Jordan Xavier was a standout, securing both the Most Valuable Player and Season Scoring Champion awards, reflecting his offensive prowess throughout the season while Brandon Aab was awarded the Top Goal Scorer this season although he did share that achievement with two of his teammates in Tyler Watungwa and Jordan Xavier.
Cremona Coyotes; Stefan Lachapelle was honoured as the Most Sportsmanlike Player, exemplifying fair play and respect on the ice. Lethbridge Lightning's; Alex Sirard received the Goalie of the Year award for his exceptional performance between the pipes while his teammate, Nick Ross, took home the award for Top Defenceman.
To round things out, Fort MacLeod Mustangs; Greg Burrows was selected as the Most Dedicated Player.
Following the awards ceremony, the Lethbridge Lightning and the Nanton Palominos faced off in a pivotal playoff game. The Lightning secured a decisive 7-3 victory, bolstering their position in the championship series. The series continued with the Lightning clinching the championship by winning the next game 6-1, demonstrating their dominance throughout the playoffs.
The RHL's 2024–2025 season has been marked by competitive play and individual excellence, setting the stage for an exciting future as the league continues to grow and thrive.
