Completing the South Coast Women’s Hockey League double, the Meadow Ridge Moose captured the Chilliwack Jets / Axe House SCWHL Provincial Championship Tournament with a 1-0 win over the North Shore Rebels in Sunday’s final at the Sardis Sports Complex.
Leeny Adelsberger netted the only goal of the game early in the second period, while Megan Buchanan made 236 saves in the Meadow Ridge goal for the victory. The Rebels were in their third consecutive championship game, but after two seasons surrendered the title to the Vibe. North Shore was just the second team in the history of the competition to reach the final as the sixth-seed.
In the consolation game Sunday morning, the Kamloops Vibe claimed the bronze medals with a 3-1 triumph over the South Fraser TNT. Cassidy Bell, Sadie Colter and Natalie Knight were the goal scorers for Kamloops, with Jackie Sollis netting the lone TNT tally.
