Rugby Canada in partnership with the BC Rugby Union will be hosting 2 professional development workshops prior to the Vancouver leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series. Canada Sevens Head Coach Damian McGrath will host the first of the 2 workshops at Meralomas Rugby Club. The workshop will be on Tuesday March 6th.

The workshop will begin with Damian sharing his philosophy around coaching sevens, with a focus on how to Run, Catch & Pass in the sevens game. The workshop will also include Damian delivering a practical session with the Meralomas Rugby Club in which coaches have the opportunity to observe games and drills that Damian uses in his practices that are relevant for coaching both youth and adult sevens. “Each year we are fortunate to offer the opportunity for our community and domestic coaches to listen and observe from some of the best coaches in the world, in previous years we have had Gold medal coach Ben Ryan, World Series winner Neil Powell, Olympic Bronze medal coach John Tait, and this year we feel we are continuing to offer world class coaches with Damian McGrath and Andy Friend” – Dustin Hopkins, Rugby Canada Interim General Manager Rugby Operations & Performance.
“Having two world class coaches in Vancouver sharing what they do and how they see the game can only help benefit our coaches by providing insight into how they coach, as well as giving some new games and drills for coaches to try back at their club and school ”- Dean Murten, BC Rugby Performance Development Manager
