Duncan, BC - The Cowichan Capitals have acquired 18 year-old defenceman Sam Jones from the Penticton Vees in exchange for future considerations.

"Sam is a talented young defenceman that adds some good size and puck moving ability to our blue line," said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Bob Beatty.

Through 27 games with the Vees, the 6'2", 185 pound rookie has four assists and 19 penalty minutes. Born in the United Kingdom, Jones played his entire bantam and midget career at Penticton's Okanagan Hockey Academy where he put up an impressive 83 points in a combined 88 games in his final season last year.

Sam is expected to join the Capitals ahead of Wednesday night's game against the Clippers in Nanaimo.

The Capitals organization wishes Sam a warm welcome to the Cowichan Valley!
