Caps Go For 3 Straight Before Break
- Submitted by
Duncan, BC - The Capitals are back home tonight looking to make it three straight wins heading into the Christmas break as the Prince George Spruce Kings pay their only visit of the regular season to the Island Savings Centre.

The 18-12-2-3 Capitals are coming off a pair of impressive wins against division opponents, 4-2 in Nanaimo Wednesday and 6-1 over the Bulldogs in Port Alberni last night. The Caps now have the chance to win three straight for just the second time all season in an attempt to cut into Nanaimo's six point lead atop the Island division.

The 8-25-0-2 Spruce Kings have struggled so far this season and enter tonight on a four game losing skid falling 9-1 in Nanaimo last night. The Capitals earned a 5-2 win in Prince George back in early October and have a chance to complete the season series sweep for the second straight season.

The Spruce Kings have struggled at both ends of the ice scoring a league low 80 goals while allowing 159 against, tied with Merritt for the second most in the BCHL. When it comes to playing the Island division, things don't get any better for Prince George with an 0-6-0-2 record. The Spruce Kings remain without several key bodies as captain Jake LeBrun is sidelined with a broken collarbone while fellow veteran forward Braiden Epp is also out of the lineup.

The Capitals have injury troubles as well still without centres Ryan Burton and Luke Santerno while forward Jared Domin has received an automatic two game suspension for a blow to the head against the Bulldogs last night. Affiliate forwards Ben Berard and Jackson Doucet will dress once again up front. Lane Michasiw is expected to get the start in net.

Leading the Capitals in scoring with 36 points, Kade Kehoe carries a four game point streak into tonight while Connor Russell has scored in each of his last three games. Ayden MacDonald and Matt Hudie also both have points in three straight.

Puck drop at the Island Savings Centre for the final game before the Christmas break is set for 7:00pm with pre-game on 89.7 Juice FM at 6:45.
