Johnston Commits to VIU

The Princeton Posse are excited to announce that Alternate Captain Morton Johnston has committed to joining the VIU Mariners Men’s Hockey program for the 2017-2018 season.  Mort is a 3-year Posse veteran who has been an integral part of the leadership on and off the ice over the last couple of years. “We are thrilled to see Mort advancing to the collegiate level next season.  Watching a young player develop and excel is the goal of our program and to have a local player continue his hockey career is a true testament to why Princeton is so passionate about this team.” said Head Coach Mark McNaughton.

The VIU Mariners are the newest member of the BCIHL college conference and the 2017-2018 season will be their first.  Mort had this to say about joining a new college program.  “I am very excited to be joining VIU in their inaugural season.  It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to help create a culture and tradition of a new team.  Playing for the Posse has shown me how close teams can be and how dedication to teamwork can make coming to the rink that much more exciting.  I am thankful for the time I spent with the Posse and looking forward to the new experience as a Mariner.”
