Week 16: Moose one point out of first place

The Meadow Ridge Moose are now just one point out of first place in the South Coast Women’s Hockey League after earning three of a possible four points in Week 16.
A tie and a win improved their record to 10-4-4 (win-loss-tied), one point back of the 11-4-3 Kamloops Vibe.
The Moose began their weekend with a 5-5 tie with the North Shore Rebels Saturday night at the Langley Sportsplex.
Shay-Lee McConnell and Madeleine Ericsson tallied twice each for Meadow Ridge, with Natalie Richardson adding one goal.
Elexa Pakozdy with two goals, Marina Pecchia, Bianca Cuevas and Emily Froese replied for the Rebels.
Sunday night at Planet Ice – Coquitlam, the Moose again scored five times, earning two points with a 5-1 victory over the Burnaby Mountain Capitals.
Kirsten Langston, Darcy Henderson, Emily Bajkov, Shay-Lee McConnell and Alexandra Hendrickson were the goal scorers for the Moose, while Megan Jokai netted the only goal for the Capitals.
North Shore, the defending BC Hockey Senior AA female champions, also earned three points in Week 16. Prior to their draw with the Moose on Saturday, the Rebels defeated the Fraser Valley Jets 5-2 Thursday evening at the Moody Park Arena in New Westminster.
Jess Sibley, Haneet Parhar, Nicole Pederson, Simran Sidhu and Nicole Charlton netted a goal each for North Shore, while Kaitlyn Turner and Katrina Ratner replied for the Jets.
Fraser Valley played to a 3-3 tie with the South Fraser TNT Sunday morning at Planet Ice – Delta. Turner scored twice for the Jets, with Chelsea Wilson adding a single. Carlyn Shimizu, Shea Weighill and Natalie May netted the TNT goals.
South Fraser doubled the Richmond Devils 4-2 Saturday night at Planet Ice – Coquitlam, getting two goals from Tiffany Chiu and one each from Weighill and Emily Grainger. Richmond goal scorers were Ivana Bilic and Reaghan Chadwick.
Despite the loss, the Richmond Devils remain in sixth place at 6-7-3, nine points ahead of the Island Surge in the race for the final playoff position.
