Week 23: Third place for Devils

The Richmond Devils clinched third place in the final SCWHL standings Saturday night, topping the Surrey Wildcats 8-1 at the Richmond Ice Centre in the final game of the regular season for both teams.
Needing just one point from the game to ensure the fourth-place Fraser Valley Jets could not catch them, the Devils took a 2-0 lead after one period then blew the game open with five goals in the third period.
Ashley Specht clinched the SCWHL scoring title with a five-goal game, netting her 20th goal of the season in the last minute of the second period to give Richmond a 3-1 lead. She then tallied four times in the first 10 minutes of the third period to raise her season total to a league-high 24.
Amy Vanden Eynde, Nicole Lim and Emily Costales also scored for the Devils, with Emily Johnston netting the lone Wildcats goal.
The Jets fell 6-1 to the first-place Meadow Ridge Moose Sunday afternoon at Planet Ice – Delta. 
Shay-Lee McConnell and Brie Bellerive scored twice each for the Moose, and Alanna McMullen and Kacey Lepp added one each.
Chelsea Barron was the lone goal scorer for the Jets.
On Thursday night at Moody Park Arena in New Westminster, the Moose topped the sixth-place North Shore Rebels 4-1. 
Bellerive, Lepp, Darcy Henderson and Natalie Richardson scored once each, with Megan Buchanan stopping 24 of 25 shots in the Moose net for her 12th victory of the season.
The fifth-place South Fraser TNT were on the road for a pair of games against the second-place Kamloops Vibe. The Vibe swept the two-game series at the Memorial Arena which closed out the schedule for both sides.
Sadie Colter scored twice and Camryn Filmek, Sarah Botter and Rochelle Smith added singles in a 5-0 win Saturday night. Ashley Fisher made 17 saves for her fifth shutout of the season, tying her for the league lead with Melinda Choy of the TNT.
In Sunday’s rematch, Colter scored another pair and Natalie Knight, Emma Forsythe, Jaime Sedore and Smith added singles in a 6-2 win. 
Taralynn Suzuki and Shea Weighill replied for the TNT.
