The Vipers hot start to the season continued, while a last-second effort lifted the Wranglers.

Blackfalds (4) vs. Strathmore (3)

BLACKFALDS – Ryan Chambers tied the game with less than one second left on the clock, then won the game in the shootout as the Blackfalds Wranglers prevailed with a thrilling 4-3 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Sunday afternoon.

Landon Siegle and Braiden Westin added goals in regulation for the Wranglers, which got 39 saves from Rylan Bardick.

Jeremy Brigham, Hayden Vander Ploeg and George Montour provided the offence for Strathmore.

Indiana Kelly was rock solid between the pipes, making 45 saves in the loss.

GAME SUMMARY

Red Deer (4) vs. Ponoka (0)

PONOKA – Cole Sears stopped all 27 shots he faced to earn the shutout, the fifth in his HJHL career, as the Red Deer Vipers blanked the Ponoka Stampeders by a 4-0 score on Sunday.

Brody Kalinowski factored in on all four Red Deer goals, finishing the day with a goal and three assists, while Mack Differenz and Lane Sim each finished with one goal and one helper.

The Vipers power-play was firing throughout the game, as three of their four tallies came on the man-advantage.

Kayson Gallant rounded out the scoring for Red Deer.
