There were plenty of goals to go around on a five-game Saturday in the HJHL.

Mountainview (6) vs. Coaldale (4)

COALDALE – Alan Klinck found the back of the net twice, while Reid Money made 34 saves as the Mountainview Colts got by the Coaldale Copperheads by a 6-4 score on Saturday evening.

Matthew Myatt, Reagen Keim, Spencer Dowd and Quintin Thorburn rounded out the scoring for the Colts, which pulled away from a 2-2 game after one period with three goals in the middle frame to make it a 5-2 score after 40 minutes.

Levi Anderson had two of the four goals for the Copperheads, while Riese Nevil and Calvin Swanson tallied the others.

GAME SUMMARY

Airdrie (7) vs. Strathmore (4)

STRATHMORE – Two goals and two assists from Brenden Davidson paced the Airdrie Thunder to a 7-4 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Saturday night.

Clay Murray also had a four-point night, finishing with a goal and three helpers, while goaltender CJ Wedening turned aside 39 shots between the pipes.

The Thunder found themselves down 2-1 after 20 minutes but came storming back with four goals in the middle frame to a 5-4 lead into the third period, where they would tack on a couple more.

Ryan Knapp, Rylan Plante-Crough, Jordan Hodzic and Austin O’Bray rounded out the Airdrie scoring.

Zachary Meadows paced the Wheatland Kings with two goals and one assist, while Matt Thomson and George Mountor added singles.

GAME SUMMARY

Medicine Hat (3) vs. Stettler (2)

MEDICINE HAT – Down two goals to start the third period, the Medicine Hat Cubs completed the comeback with time to spare as they held on for a 3-2 win over the Stettler Lightning.

Trailing 2-0, Mackenzie Fritzler got the Cubs on the board 2:19 into the third period, while Deklan Steward added a power-play goal midway through the frame to even things up. Then, just 1:16 later, it was Kian Simonson that found the back of the net to put the Cubs out in front for good.

Erik Rost and Brendan Bardwell tallied for the Lightning, which got 28 saves from goaltender Taylor Frank.

T.J. Goldie turned aside 22-of-24 shots fired at him in the Medicine Hat crease.

GAME SUMMARY

Cochrane (8) vs. Ponoka (0)

COCHRANE – Erik Garber stopped all 23 shots he faced as the Cochrane Generals rolled to an 8-0 shutout victory over the Ponoka Stampeders.

Slater Ransom led the charge with two goals and two helpers, while Braden Bain and Walid Hassin each finished with a pair of goals on the night.

Talus Hume had a three-point night, scoring once and setting up two more, while Colton Wong rounded out the offence with a goal and assist.

Taylor McLawghlin made 35 saves in the loss for the Stampeders, which trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes and 4-0 going into the final frame.

GAME SUMMARY

High River (7) vs. Three Hills (2)

THREE HILLS – Davis Sheldon had two goals and two assists as the High River Flyers skated to a 7-2 decision over the Three Hills Thrashers.

Chantz Vinck stood on his head between the pipes for High River, turning aside 41-of-43 shots fired his way.

Evan Pakkala finished the night with two goals and one assist, while teammate Joel Nalder added a goal and two assists.

The Flyer scored three times in less than two minutes late in the first period to jump out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes, which turned into a 5-1 lead headed into the final frame.

Michael McTighe and Egor Sinko rounded out the scoring, each netting a goal and assist.

Tanner Boutin and Cooper Cheshire tallied for Three Hills.
