The Cubs are the lone unbeaten team in the HJHL thanks to a big win over the Colts on Sunday
Medicine Hat (5) vs. Mountainview (4)
MEDICINE HAT – Noah Irvine’s power-play marker midway through the third period proved to be the difference as the Medicine Hat Cubs remain the lone unbeaten team in the HJHL this season after a 5-4 win over the Mountainview Colts.
Tavin Stadnicki scored twice for the Cubs (3-0-0), while Tristan Stensrud and Brenden Weisgerber added singles.
Trevor Simpson, Damian Vickers, Josh Gette and Trey Wallace replied for Mountainview (2-1-1), which found themselves down 2-1 after one period and 4-2 after 40 minutes.
T.J. Goldie picked up the win between the pipes, making 25 saves on the day.
Strathmore (3) vs. Red Deer (2)
STRATHMORE – A three-goal outburst in span of 2:10 propelled the Strathmore Wheatland Kings to a 3-2 win over the Red Deer Vipers.
Trailing 1-0, Zachary Meadows put the Wheatland Kings (2-1-1) on the board just past the midway mark of the second period, while Brenden Moore and Chayse Hnatowich followed up with a pair of power-play goals just 40 seconds a part to make it a 3-1 Strathmore lead.
Dalton Angeltvedt and Mack Differenz provided the scoring for Red Deer (2-1-0), which got 21 saves from goaltender Cole Sears.
Indiana Kelly picked up the win between the pipes for Strathmore, stopping 28-of-30 shots fired his way.
Okotoks (7) vs. Ponoka (0)
PONOKA – Joshua McCulloch and Nicholas Murrell combined for eight points, while Devin Reagan recorded the shutout as the Okotoks Bisons cruised to a 7-0 win over the Ponoka Stampeders on Sunday afternoon.
McCulloch finished with three goals and one assist, while Murrell had a goal and three helpers.
Kyle Harrison, McKoy Kahlert and Zack M’Hamed each chipped in with a goal and assist for Okotoks (2-1-0), while Reagan finished the day with 35 saves, including a 15-save second period.
Alexander Mercer turned aside 30 shots in the Ponoka (0-4-0) crease.
