Coaldale, Red Deer and Strathmore all flexed their muscles on Saturday night in the HJHL.

Strathmore (10) vs. Ponoka (4)

PONOKA – A three-goal, one assist performance from Chayse Hnatowich on Saturday night propelled the Strathmore Wheatland Kings to a 10-4 road win over the Ponoka Stampeders.

Kody Hammond, George Montour, Brenden Moore and Matt Thomson each saw their season point total increase by three as they all finished with a goal and two assists on the night, while teammate Austin Holmes added three helpers.

The third period was the difference maker as the Wheatland Kings (3-1-1) turned a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes into a 9-2 lead going into the final frame.

Keenan Ogle, Cole Busslinger and Jake Faris rounded out the Strathmore scoring, while Cole Bright turned aside 41-of-45 shots faced.

GAME SUMMARY

Red Deer (14) vs. Medicine Hat (3)

RED DEER – Four skaters had four points or more as the Red Deer Vipers skated to a 14-3 romp over the Medicine Hat Cubs on Saturday evening at the Collicutt Centre.

Logan Linnell led all players with six points, scoring twice and setting up four others, while Mack Differenz and a game-high four goals on the night.

Declan Johnston and Dalton Angeltvedt each finished with five points as Johnson scored the hat trick and added two helpers, while Angeltvedt had a goal and four assists.

The Vipers (3-1-0) took a 4-2 lead into the second period, where they exploded for six more to make it a 10-3 game after 40 minutes.

Noah Irvine had a pair of goals for the Cubs (3-1-0), while Matt Clement chipped in with a goal and assist.

Cole Sears made 22 saves in the Red Deer crease, moving to 2-1-0 on the season.

Keagan Kingwell also had a multi-point outing for the Vipers, scoring twice and setting up another, while Kayson Gallant and Curtis Hallman each added a single.

GAME SUMMARY

Coaldale (7) vs. Stettler (0)

COALDALE – Nolan Berner stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn his first career HJHL shutout as the Coaldale Copperheads blanked the Stettler Lightning by a 7-0 score on Saturday night.

A pair of goals off the stick of Levi Anderson led the offensive charge for the Copperheads (3-1-0), while Logan Middleton chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Jedd Horvath, Sam Paskuski, Gavin Burns and Brandyn Howg rounded out the scoring, each netting a single.

Jordan McCallum took the loss between the pipes for Stettler (1-3-0), stopping 31 shots along the way.
