It was a high scoring Friday night in the Heritage Junior Hockey League.

Red Deer (9) vs. Stettler (7)

STETTLER – It was a wild one, but it was the Red Deer Vipers that were able to stay two steps ahead all game, hanging on to a thrilling 9-7 win over the Stettler Lightning.

Keagan Kingwell had two goals and two assists, while Justin Pearup scored twice and added one assist as the Vipers (6-2-0) were able to take a 3-1 lead into the second period and turn it into a 7-4 lead after 40 minutes.

Kieran Rost and Dylan Houston each scored twice for the Lightning (2-6-0), while Rylee Jacobson, Ethan Rost and Braydon Whiteford each added a single.

Dalton Angelvedt continued his hot start to the season, adding four more assists in this game, his second four-assist performance of the season. Logan Linnell finished with three helpers.

Connor Sullivan, Lane Sim, Nicholas Scott, Austin Thorne and Mack Differenz rounded out the Red Deer scoring.

GAME SUMMARY

Mountainview (5) vs. Cochrane (3)

COCHRANE – Reid Money made 37 saves as the Mountainview Colts held on for a 5-3 win over the Cochrane Generals.

Alan Klinck, Trevor Simpson, Josh Gette, Erran Thompson and Matthew Myatt each found the back of the net for the Colts (5-3-1).

Money, he is now 4-2-0 on the season, made 13 of his 37 saves in the final frame to keep his team out in front.

Austin Keller and Harry Osler replied for the Generals (4-5-0), which got 22 saves from goaltender Benjamin Daumler.

GAME SUMMARY

Okotoks (7) vs. Strathmore (5)

OKOTOKS – Five points from Kyle Harrison propelled the Okotoks Bisons to a 7-5 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings at Murray Arena on Friday.

Harrison found the back of the net twice, while also setting up three more, as the Bisons (6-2-0) win their third straight contest.

Robbe McLean added two goals and an assist, while Nicholas Murrell also had a two-goal, one-assist night, with both of his tallies coming just six seconds apart in the third period.

Tyler Rohl rounded out the scoring for Okotoks on an unassisted effort.

George Montour kept the Wheatland Kings (3-4-1) in it, scoring three of his teams five goals. The others came off the sticks of Jaks Faris and Brenden Moore.

Matthew McDonald picked up the win between the pipes for the Bisons, stopping 43-of-48 shots fired his way.

Medicine Hat (5) vs. High River (2)

MEDICINE HAT – Martyn Clift stopped 28 shots as the Medicine Hat Cubs skated to a 5-2 home-ice win over the High River Flyers on Friday.

Jareh Gray, Matt Clement and Noah Irvine all added first-period goals for the Cubs (5-4-0), which took a 3-1 lead into the second period.

Leading just 3-2 going into the final frame, the Cubs put some separation in the score thanks to a power-play marker from Tavin Straub, followed by a shorthanded effort off the stick of Alex Duclos.

Davis Sheldon and Michael McTighe had the goals for High River (3-4-1) , which got 24 saves from netminder Dylan Jensen.

GAME SUMMARY

Airdrie (7) vs. Three Hills (2)

AIRDRIE – A three-goal night off the stick of Rylan Plante-Crough paced the Airdrie Thunder to a 7-2 win over the Three Hills Thrashers at the Ron Ebbesen Arena on Friday evening.

Jacob MacDonald added two goals for Airdrie (7-1-1), which held leads of 3-0 after 20 minutes and 5-1 going into the final frame.

Clay Murray chipped in with a goal and three assist, while Kristopher LeClair added his first of the season.

Nathan Waiboer and Michael Lougheed had the goals for the Thrashers (0-7-0), both getting the puck past Airdrie goaltender C.J. Wedenig, who finished with 20 saves on the night.
