HJHL Roundup: Strathmore makes it three in a row

The Wheatland Kings extended their winning streak, while the Flyers came up big against the Vipers.

RED DEER – Chantz Vinck made 34 saves as the High River Flyers upended the Red Deer Vipers by a 4-1 score on Saturday evening.

Joel Nalder scored a pair of power play goals in the second period, while Davis Sheldon and Michael McTighe rounded out the scoring.

Keagan Kingwell had the tally for Red Deer (7-3-0), which led 1-0 after 20 minutes before the Flyers (6-5-1) found the back of the net three times in the middle frame.

Branden Bilodeau made 25 saves for the Vipers.

Strathmore (7) vs. Ponoka (2)

STRATHMORE – Three goals from Zachary Meadows paced the Strathmore Wheatland Kings to their third straight victory, a 7-2 win over the Ponoka Stampeders.

Austin Holmes also finished with a three-point night, scoring once and setting up two more, while Hayden Vander Ploeg, George Montour and Keenan Ogle each added a single.

Indiana Kelly made 32 saves to earn his fifth win of the season between the Strathmore (6-4-1) pipes.

Braden Klessens and Kayden Gatz provided the goals for Ponoka (1-8-1), which got 39 saves from goaltender Keenan Starkell.
