A big third period on Wednesday lifted the Stampeders to their second straight victory.

PONOKA – Tate Opdendries scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 4:40 left on the clock to lift the Ponoka Stampeders to a 6-4 win over the Stettler Lightning on Wednesday evening.
Nate Higgins, Ryan Harder, Brendan Scott and Jordan Sears also tallied for the Stampeders (3-9-2), who scored four times in the final frame to erase a 3-2 deficit after 40 minutes.
Taylor McLaughlin stopped 26-of-30 shots between the pipes to register his second consecutive victory.
Tye Mulgrove had a pair of goals for the Lightning (3-8-2), while Mark Bengert and Logan Spady each chipped in with a single.
Nick Lepp made 35 saves in the loss.
