HJHL Roundup: Sheldon puts on a show in High River

The Airdrie Thunder came away with two points in a North versus South heavyweight matchup, while Davis Sheldon put on a show in High River.

AIRDRIE – A pair of goals off the stick of Rylan Plante-Crough helped the Airdrie Thunder skate to a 3-1 win over the Okotoks Bisons on Friday evening.

Benjamin Orde also found the back of the net for the Thunder (13-6-2), as he broke a 1-1 deadlock 6:17 into the third period with a goal that would stand up as the winner.

Ryan Simpson turned aside 28-of-29 shots fired his way between the pipes.

Joshua McCulloch had the tally for Okotoks (13-6-2), while goaltender Devin Reagan kept his team in the game, stopping 46 shots on the night, including all 18 he faced in the middle stanza.

GAME SUMMARY

High River (9) vs. Three Hills (1)

HIGH RIVER – Davis Sheldon scored twice in the opening 7:16 en route to a seven-point evening as the High River Flyers took a 9-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday night.

Sheldon finished with four goals and three assists on the night, factoring in on all the High River (11-8-3) goals but two.

Connor Taylor also had a big night in Flyers colours, as he registered the hat trick and added two helpers.

Ryan Kanten and Devon Barlow rounded out the scoring, while Connor McCarroll made 20 saves in net.

Michael Loughheed had the lone goal for Three Hills (0-13-0).
