A barn-burner in Coaldale highlighted a three-game Friday across the Heritage Junior Hockey League.

Coaldale (1) vs. High River (0)

HIGH RIVER – Jayden Smith’s third period marker with 3:24 remaining was the only goal the game would see as the Coaldale Copperheads skated to a 1-0 road victory over the High River Flyers on Friday.

Nolan Berner stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his second shutout and seventh win of the season.

Dylan Jensen stood on his head in the Flyers (12-9-3) crease, stopping 41-of-42 shots fired his way.

Smith’s goal, his 12th of the season with the Copperheads (13-8-1), came unassisted.

GAME SUMMARY

Airdrie (5) vs. Blackfalds (1)

AIRDRIE – Ryan Simpson made 44 saves and five different skaters found the back of the net as the Airdrie Thunder extended their winning streak to three games with a 5-1 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers.

Benjamin Orde led the way with a goal and assist, while Rylan Plante-Crough, Michael Dubois, Matt Thomson, and Jesse Fischer added singles to round out the Airdrie (15-6-2) scoring.

Dylan Schuenert had the lone goal for Blackfalds (13-7-0).

GAME SUMMARY

Cochrane (8) vs. Three Hills (3)

THREE HILLS – Talus Hume and Slater Ransom combined for 10 points as the Cochrane Generals rolled to an 8-3 win over the Three Hills Thrashers.

Ransom scored three times and setup another, while Hume added two goals and three assists.

Taylor Girard and Brandon Aab also had big games for the Generals (13-8-1), as Girard netted a goal and assist, while Aab ended the night with three helpers.

Knute Loe made 26 saves to record the win between the pipes for Cochrane, which also got goals from Jordan Fisher and Chris Sambrook.

Michael Lougheed, Tanner Sharp and Kevin Schrook had the scoring for the Thrashers (1-15-0), all of which came in the opening frame as the teams were deadlocked 3-3 after 20 minutes before the Generals would score five unanswered to close out the game.
