An incredible 80-save performance from goaltender Josh Breznik has kept the Medicine Hat Cubs alive after a 2-1 Game 2 victory over the Cochrane Generals on Saturday night.
Despite being outshout 25-9 in the first period, it was the Cubs that held a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Jareh Gray, while that lead would stay the same into the third period until Jesse Barsness made it a 2-0 Cubs lead.
Cochrane was finally able to solve Breznik late in the third period, breaking the shutout bid with 2:40 remaining.
Knute Loe turned aside 23 shots in the Cochrane crease.
The third and final game of the series gets underway at 5:30 pm on Sunday in Cochrane.
