Colts get past Lightning, advance to second round

Josh Gette scored twice, including the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, to propel the Mountainview Colts to a 6-4 win over the Stettler Lightning in the decisive Game 3 on Sunday.

The Colts advance to the best-of-five second round where they will face the Red Deer Vipers.

Colton Anderson finished with a game-high four points for the Colts, scoring twice and adding two assists, while Spencer Dowd netted a goal and two helpers.

Ethan Woodward recorded the win in net, making 27 saves on the evening, while Reed Engman rounded out the Colts attack.

Ethan Rost had a pair of goals for the Lightning, while Quade Cassidy and Mark Bengert added singles.

After the Colts took a 2-0 lead in the first intermission, the teams found themselves deadlocked after 40 minutes.

Jordan McCallum turned aside 33 shots in the loss for the Lightning.
