McLean leads Bisons in series opening victory

Five unanswered goals, including four in the final period, powered the Okotoks Bisons to a 6-3 Game 1 victory over the Cochrane Generals on Friday evening.

Robbie McLean led the Bisons’ charge, scoring twice and setting up two others, while Kyle Harrison and Brennan Fuoco each chipped in with a goal and an assist.

With the game tied 2-2 in the later half of the middle stanza, Taylor McNeill found the back of the net with a shorthanded effort, putting the Bisons out in front for good.

Jaren Turnquist rounded out the Okotoks attack, while goaltender Devin Reagan recorded the win between the pipes, making 35 saves along the way.

The Generals got two goals off the stick of Braden Bain, while Harry Osler added the other.

Knute Loe stopped 43-of-46 shots fired his way in the Cochrane crease.

Cochrane will look to even the best-of-five series up on home ice Saturday night as they host Game 2 at 7:30pm.
