Logan Linnell scored twice and setup another as the Red Deer Vipers took a 6-1 victory over the Mountainview Colts in Game 1 of their best-of-five North Division semifinal series.
Branden Bilodeau was stellar in net for Red Deer, stopping 35-of-36 shots faced on the night, which includes a 22-save performance in the second period alone.
Lane Sim, Aidan Wilson, Kayson Gallant and Jordan Volk rounded out the scoring for the Vipers, which jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Spencer Dowd scored the lone goal for Colts, a power-play marker late in the second period.
Game 2 of the series shifts to Didsbury on Monday evening. Puck drop is at 8:00pm.
