Thunder win Game 3 thriller to take series lead

Rylan Plante-Crough scored the go-ahead goal with just 1:17 remaining in the third period to propel the Airdrie Thunder to a 5-4 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers, while also taking a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five North Division semifinal series.

Clay Murray scored twice and added two assists for the Thunder, while Benjamin Orde and Dante Raposo rounded the out scoring, each netting a single.

Trailing 4-2 at the midway mark of the third period, the Wranglers battled back with goals from Ryan Chambers and Brody Bolton, the later of which coming 10 second prior to Plante-Crough’s winner.

Tyler Bell and Shawn Rowe also had goals for the Wranglers, which got 28 saves from netminder Rylan Bardick.

C.J. Wedenig turned aside 28 shots to record the win for the Thunder, which can close out the series in Game 4 on Tuesday evening. Puck drop in Blackfalds goes at 7:30pm.
