Gelinas scores three as Colts take Game 2 over Thunder

DIDSBURY—Wyatt Gelinas scored three times as the Mountainview Colts handed the Airdrie Thunder their first loss of the post-season, as they evened up their best-of-seven North Division Final series with a 7-5 win in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Zane Leatherdale added two goals and two assists for the Colts, which scored three times in the final frame to a break a 4-4 deadlock after 40 minutes.

Alan Klinck and Caden Switzer rounded out the scoring, while goaltender Ethan Woodward was stellar between the pipes, stopping 40 shots on the night.

Zachary Dubois, Brett LeGrandeur, Rylan Plante-Crough, Tristan Paquette and Zachary Giroux had the goals for Airdrie, which got 23 saves from netminder Ryan Simpson.

Game 3 of the series shifts back to Airdrie on Friday night. Puck drop from the Ron Ebbesen Arena goes at 8:00pm.
