HJHL Roundup - Nov. 15

Scott Fisher

Flyers 10, Lightning 5

It's never too early to start positioning yourself for the playoffs.

Michael McTighe scored twice and added a pair of assists and Jake Snashall also scored as part of a four-point outing as High River (6-9-1) leapfrogged Strathmore into fifth place in the South Division.

The Flyers visit the Wheatland Kings Saturday night.

Josh Russo and Layne Sniher sniped two apiece and Chase Groeneveld, Logan MacLean and Jharin Bantugan added singles in the win.

The Mulgrove, Brendan Bardwell, Erik Rost, James Switenky and Hunter Baldwin replied for the Lightning, who fell to 5-9-1.

Stettler hosts Medicine Hat on Sunday afternoon.

Lakers 4, Rams 3

The Lakers didn't like the look of the basement.

So they climbed a level.

Goaltender Brady Newton turned in a spectacular 53-save effort as Lomond edged Rocky 4-3.

Chase Snider potted a pair of goals as the Lakers improved to 2-13-0, the identical record of the Rams.

Clayton Billyard scored once as part of a three-point night and Sean De Visser chipped in with a goal for the visitors who will host Airdrie on Saturday night.

Landon Siegle's hat trick accounted for all of the Rams offence.

Rocky hosts unbeaten Okotoks on Saturday.

Thunder 4, Stampeders 1

Kyle Bracko had a goal and an assist while Cody Brodhagen, Jordan McConnell and Dane Bennett-Nimijean also found the net as the Thunder beat the visiting Ponoka Stampeders 4-1 on Friday night.

Stamps goaltender Geoffrey Drought put in a spectacular effort, stopping 49 of the 52 shots the Thunder pounded on net.

"I was definitely surprised by their goaltender," Brodhagen said. "We definitely should have had a few more goals but he came out and played well."

Justin Fedoruk wasn't as busy but was just as sharp between Airdrie's pipes, making 19 saves.

Tyrone Potts Jr. scored for the Stamps (4-10-1), who visit the Mountainview Colts on Saturday.

The Thunder, who improved to 12-4-0, visit the Lomond Lakers on Saturday night.
