There will be no team from the Heritage Junior Hockey League at the 2016 Keystone Cup as the both the Mountainview Colts and Red Deer Vipers were eliminated from contention on Day 3 of the Alberta Junior B Provincials.
Wainwright (3) – Red Deer (1) Dustin Spearing scored the lone goal for the Vipers, while Cole Sears stopped 30-of-32 shots in goal as Red Deer was edged 3-1 by the Wainwright Bisons on Saturday evening in the semifinals.
Boxscore Calgary (7) – Mountainview (5) Cole Sutherland had four points, while Ryan Klinck and Mitchell Visser each tallied a goal and assist as the Colts fell 7-5 to the Calgary Royals-Gold in their final game of the season on Saturday morning. Mountainview finished the round robin with a 0-3-0 record and did not advance to the knockout stage.
Boxscore Red Deer (3) – Killam (2) Dustin Spearing paced the offence with a pair of goals as the Vipers advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 win over the Killam Wheat Kings on Saturday morning. Tye Munro tallied the other goal, while Cole Sears made 24 saves between the pipes.
