DIDSBURY – Reigning HJHL scoring champion and player of the week Clay Murray had a six-point night as the Airdrie Thunder came away victorious in one of the wildest HJHL games in history, as they were 11-9 winners over the Mountainview Colts on Saturday.

Murray scored four times and added two assists, while teammate Rylan Plante-Crough had a two-goal, two-assist evening. Jesse Fischer and Jared Janke also each found the back of the net twice for the Thunder (4-0-0), while Dylan McCuaig finished with four assists.

The Thunder led 3-1 after 20 minutes and 6-3 going into the third period, where things would get crazy. The Colts (2-1-0) would score six times in the frame, while the Thunder tacked on five. There were seven goals scored in the first 5:26 of the final frame.

Alan Klinck and Tyson Schmidt led the way for the Colts, each netting two goals and one assist. Evan Ingram also found the back of the net twice, while Cole Sutherland picked up four helpers on the night.

HIGH RIVER – Tucker Brown scored twice and setup another as the High River Flyers snapped a three-game losing skid with a 6-2 win on Saturday night over the Medicine Hat Cubs.

Michael Schaeferadded a goal and assist for the Flyers (1-3-0), while Mason Mazur, Evan Pakkala and Adam Rosen netted singles. Dakota Omura stopped 22-of-24 shots he faced between the barber poles.

Matt Clement and Brandon Stahl did the damage for the Cubs (0-3-0), which got 23 saves from goaltender Dan Maier.

Strathmore Wheatland Kings (3)

STRATHMORE – Connor Rendell and Corey Goeson each scored twice as the Cochrane Generals skated to their fourth straight win, a 6-3 victory over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Saturday.

Chad Harrison and Colton Wong also found the back of the net for the Generals (4-0-0), which held leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 4-2 going into the final frame. Ryan Simpson made 25 saves in goal to pick up the win.

Brenden Moore, Joby Raine and Matt Thomson provided the offence for Strathmore (1-1-0), which got 37 saves from goaltender Brady Hoover.

Three Hills Thrashers (0)

RED DEER – Eight different skaters found the back of the net as the Red Deer Vipers used a balanced attack to blow past the Three Hills Thrashers by an 8-0 score on Saturday night.

Lane Sim opened the scoring with a shorthanded effort, while Dalton Angelvedt and Brett Marsollier also found the back of the net in the first period to make it a 3-0 game.

Spencer Yeats and Mitch Morrison added markers in the middle stanza, while Kale Lapointe, Carter Trenerry and Lucas Loomis found the back of the net in the third period.

Vipers’ (2-2-0) goaltender Cole Sears stopped all 16 shots he faced to earn the fourth shutout of his HJHL career.

Banff Bears (0)

COALDALE – Austyn Moser scored three times and added one assist as the Coaldale Copperheads remained unbeaten on the season with an 8-0 win over the Banff Bears on Saturday evening.

Brendon Benson also had a four-point night, scoring once and picking up three helpers, while Brady Paranteau had a goal and two assists. MacKenzie Karl, Clay Vogt and Ryan Tessemaker rounded out the attack for the Copperheads (4-0-0), each adding a single.

Dillan Kelly stopped all 15 shots he faced for his third career HJHL shutout.

Dominik Vollenweider made 40 saves in goal for Banff (0-2-1).
