AIRDRIE – Kale Lapointe found the back of the net twice, while Branden Bilodeau stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Red Deer Vipers blanked the Banff Bears by a 5-0 score on Saturday night.

Nicholas Scott opened the scoring just 3:29 into the game as the Vipers (5-4-0) took a 2-0 lead into the second period, where they would make it a 3-0 game after 40 minutes.

Dalton Angeltvedt and Spencer Yeats rounded out the scoring for Red Deer, which has now won three straight games.

Michael Binczyk made 36 saves between the barber poles for Banff.

DIDSBURY – Jake Carlson stopped 34-of-35 shots fired his way as the Mountainview Colts defeated the High River Flyers by a 3-1 score on Saturday night.

Wyatt Gelinas and Cole Sutherland each tallied first period markers for the Colts (7-1-0), while Trey Wallace added some insurance late in the final frame with his second of the season.

Tucker Brown scored the lone goal for the Flyers (3-8-0), while Bryce Shegelski turned aside 32 shots between the pipes.

COALDALE – Dillan Kelly made 35 saves as the Coaldale Copperheads edged the Airdrie Thunder by a score of 2-1 on Saturday evening.

Tyler Anderson found the back of the net with 14:00 minutes to go in the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Sam Paskuski opened the scoring for Coaldale (9-1-0), giving them a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Malyk John found the equalizer for the Thunder (7-2-2) with a power play marker midway through the middle stanza, while Kade Taplin stopped 33-of-35 shots in the loss.

PONOKA -- Robbie McLean scored twice as the Okotoks Bisons hung on for a 6-4 win over the Ponoka Stampeders on Saturday night.

Matthew Balagus, Connor Tudor, Tyler Rohl and Kyle Harrison each found the back of the net once for the Bisons (6-3-0), while goaltender Draven Rees made 27 saves in goal.

Nate Higgins led the charge for the Stampeders (1-7-0), scoring three times and adding an assist, while Chevazz Rabbit scored once and added three assists.

The Bisons lead 1-0 after 20 minutes before the teams were deadlocked 3-3 going into the final frame, where Okotoks would score three times, once into an empty net, to seal the deal.

Zeke Leuck made 25 saves in the Ponoka crease.

STRATHMORE – Matt Thomson found the back of the net twice as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings skated to a 5-2 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Saturday evening.

Kristian Ayoungman finished the night with a goal and two helpers, while Bradley Tingey added a goal and one assist.

Cole Busslinger scored the eventual game winner for the Wheatland Kings (3-4-2), finding the back of the net midway through the second period, making it a 3-0 Strathmore lead.

Brady Hoover stopped 47-of-49 shots fired his way to earn the win between the pipes.

Michael Lougheed and Ryan Spiller each tallied for the Thrashers (3-5-1), which got 35 saves from goaltender Aiden Doel.
