OKOTOKS – Dylan McCuaig’s second period tally stood up as the game winner as the Airdrie Thunder edged the Okotoks Bisons by a score of 3-2 on Friday night.

McCuaig found the back of the net with exactly five minutes to go in the middle stanza to break a 2-2 deadlock.

Rylan Plante-Crough and Jared Janke netted first period markers for Airdrie (10-2-2), giving them a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Matthew McDonald was busy in the Bisons’ (8-4-0) crease, stopping 53-of-56 shots fired his way, while Joshua McCulloch and Mark McLeod provided the offence.

Kade Taplin picked up the win between the pipes, making 24 saves along the way.

Ponoka Stampeders (4)

HIGH RIVER – Three goals in the final 12 minutes of the third period propelled the High River Flyers to a thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind victory on Friday evening.

Trailing 4-2 with 11:55 to play, Mason Mazur and Liam Hall each found the back of the net to tie the game, while Damon Turner scored the go-ahead goal for the Flyers (5-9-0) with just 24 ticks left on the clock.

The goal was Turner’s second of the night, while Michael McTighe rounded out the scoring with a first period tally for High River, which got 25 saves from goaltender Bryce Shegelski.

Austin Ancion, Jordan Sears, Jacob Sayler and Nate Higgins each scored for the Stampeders (3-10-0), which also held a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

Robert Michetti made 49 saves in the Ponoka crease.

DIDSBURY – The two teams entered the game each with only one loss on the season, but it’s the Mountainview Colts that can only say that now as they used a three-goal third period to skate to a 6-3 win over the Cochrane Generals on Friday night.

Colton Anderson and Trey Wallace each found the back of the net twice for the Colts (10-1-0), while Evan Ingram added a goal and two helpers.

Thomas Della Siega made 30 saves in net to pick up the victory, while Cole Sutherland chipped in with a goal and assist.

Wallace scored the winner just 5:04 into the third period to break a 3-3 tie, while the Colts would add a pair of empty-net goals in the final 1:10.

Talus Hume was big for the Generals (11-2-0), scoring all three of his teams goals on the night, while Ty Robinson stopped 29-of-33 shots fired his way.

Three Hills Thrashers (1)

THREE HILLS – Austin Wilson scored twice and setup another as the Blackfalds Wranglers skated away with a 6-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday evening.

Brenden Davidson, Ryan Chambers and Spencer Otto each finished with a goal and assist for Blackfalds (5-5-0), while Landon Siegle chipped in with his third of the season.

Tyrell McCubbing tallied the lone goal of the game for Three Hills (4-7-1), which trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes and 5-1 going into the final frame.

Lane Brann was solid in the Wranglers’ crease, stopping 41-of-42 shots fired his direction.
