COCHRANE – Corey Goeson scored twice including the winner as the Cochrane Generals hung on for a 6-5 victory over the Coaldale Copperheads on Friday evening.

Talus Hume also scored twice on the night for the Generals (14-2-0), while Colton Wong finished with a goal and two helpers.

Chad Harrison rounded out the scoring or Cochrane, which held a 6-3 lead going into the final frame.

Matt Krusky had a goal and assist for Coaldale (11-2-0), while Calvin Swanson scored once and setup two others. Austin Holmes and Tyler Anderson also found the back of the net, while Dillan Kelly made 36 saves between the pipes.

Ryan Simpson picked up the win in the Cochrane crease, stopping 44-of-49 shots on the night.

Red Deer Vipers (6)

AIRDRIE – Jared Janke scored the winner midway through the third period as the Airdrie Thunder came away with a wild 7-6 win over the Red Deer Vipers on Friday night.

Rylan Plante-Crough had a hat trick for the Thunder (12-2-2), which led 6-2 late in the third period before the Vipers (9-5-0) scored four unanswered to come all the way back and tie the game.

Janke finished with a goal and two assists, as did Clay Murray, while Dante Raposo and Dylan McCuaig rounded out the scoring. Kade Taplin made 50 saves between the pipes to extend the Thunder’s winning streak to five games.

Dalton Angeltvedt, Brody Kalinowski and Logan Linnell each scored a goal and two helpers for the Vipers, which saw their seven game winning streak come to a halt.

Brett Hoppus, Tristyn Zarubiak and Spencer Yeats rounded out the scoring.

THREE HILLS – Cole Sutherland found the back of the net twice as the Mountainview Colts skated to a 6-3 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday night.

Ryan Klinck and Mitchell Visser each finished with a goal and assist, while Austin Pedersen and Tyson Schmidt rounded out the Mountainview (11-2-0) scoring attack.

Tyler Newsham, Tyrell McCubbing and Ryan Spiller provided the offence for the Thrashers (5-8-1), which got 35 saves from goaltender Greg Pols.

Jake Carlson stopped 28-of-31 shots faced in the Mountainview crease.

MEDICINE HAT – Nathan Cohen-Wallis scored three times as the Banff Bears skated to their second consecutive win over the Medicine Hat Cubs, skating to a 6-3 decision on Friday evening.

Philip Schader, River Ross and Noah Giese each added a single to round out the Banff (3-9-2) scoring, while Michael Binczyk stopped 28-of-31 shots between the pipes.

Quinten Karg, Rhett Carlson and Ryan Fauth each potted a single for the Cubs (1-11-4), which got 29 saves from goaltender Brendan Patterson. Matt Clement finished the night with three assists.

Strathmore Wheatland Kings (3)

HIGH RIVER – Kody Briggs’s third period goal proved to be the game winner as the High River Flyers held on for a 4-3 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Friday night.

Tucker Brown, Damon Turner and Evan Pakkala each found the back of the net for High River (6-10-0), which trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes and found themselves deadlocked at 2-2 going into the final frame.

Brenden Moore, Kristian Ayoungman and Cole Busslinger did the damage for the Wheatland Kings (4-8-3), which got a 35-save performance out of Pierre Wiederhold between the pipes.

Dakota Omura made 24 saves in the High River crease to earn the win.
