DIDSBURY – Brydon Beston scored three times including the overtime winner as the Airdrie Thunder skated to their sixth straight victory, edging the Mountianview Colts by a 6-5 score on Saturday night.

Beston tallied 2:17 into overtime to complete his hat trick and give the Thunder (13-2-2) the victory.

Jared Bainbridge, Malyk John and Dante Raposo rounded out the scoring for the Thunder, which got an impressive 54-save performance from goaltender Joel Lepper.

Evan Ingram tallied a hat trick of his own for the Colts (11-2-1), while Tyson Schmidt chipped in with a goal and three assists.

Jake Carlson made 32 saves between the pipes for Mountainview, while Cole Sutherland added his 10th of the season.

High River Flyers (2)

BANFF – Ayrton Chapman scored the winner as the Banff Bears edged the High River Flyers 3-2 on Saturday evening.

Chapman scored with just 11 seconds left in the game to break a 2-2 deadlock.

River Ross and Sven Prinz rounded out the scoring for the Bears (4-9-2), while goaltender Erik Garber turned aside 25 shots between the pipes.

Mason Mazur tallied both High River (6-11-0) goals, while Dakota Omura stopped 24-of-27 shots fired his way.

Coaldale Copperheads (4)
Okotoks Bisons (1)

COALDALE – A pair of power-play markers propelled the Coaldale Copperheads to a 4-1 win over the Okotoks Bisons on Saturday night.

Brendon Benson and Ryan Swier each scored twice to provide the offence for Coaldale (12-2-0), while goaltender Dylan Swanson stopped 19-of-20 shots between the pipes.

Joshua McCulloch scored the lone goal for the Bisons (8-6-0), which have now lost three straight.

Matthew McDonald made 49 saves in the Okotoks crease.

Medicine Hat Cubs (3)

COCHRANE – The Cochrane Generals became the first team in the HJHL to reach the 30-point mark on the season as they routed the Medicine Hat Cubs by a 10-3 score on Saturday evening.

Connor Rendell led the charge with two goals and two helpers, while Slater Ransom added a goal and three assists.

Logan Brown scored once and setup two others, while Austin Keller and Levi Barker each chipped in with a goal and assist.

Ryan Simpson stopped 26-of-29 shots fired his way in goal for the Generals (15-2-0), which held leads of 3-0 after the first period and 5-1 after 40 minutes before they tallied five times in the final frame.

Branden Patterson made 41 saves in the Cubs (1-12-4) crease, while Alex Engel, Alex Duclos and Kevin Ellefson provided the offence.

Ty Milligan, Taylor Girard and Radek McGuire rounded out the Cochrane scoring attack, each adding a single.

Three Hills Thrashers (1)

RED DEER – Mark Differnz scored twice and setup another as the Red Deer Vipers cruised to a 7-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Saturday night.

Declan Johnston and Bailey Lawson each added a goal and assist for the Vipers (10-5-0), while JC Ingram, Kale Lapointe and Carter Trenerry each chipped in with a single.

Red Deer held leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 4-0 going into the final frame.

Goaltender Branden Bilodeau stopped 13-of-14 shots fired his way, while having his shutout bid broken with just 46 seconds remaining in the game as Thrashers (5-9-1) forward Tyrell McCubbing netted a power-play marker.

Greg Pols made 49 saves in the Three Hills crease.
