AIRDRIE – Andrew McLennan scored twice including the game-winner as the Airdrie Thunder skated away with a thrilling and physical 6-5 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers on Friday evening at Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Jared Janke scored once and setup two more for the Lightning (15-4-2), while Gavin Klein, Dante Raposo and Dylan McCuaig rounded out the scoring, each netting as single.

The Wranglers (11-7-0) held a 2-1 lead after the first period and a 4-3 lead going into the final frame, where Airdrie would score three unanswered times.

Landon Siegle had a hat trick, while Austin Wilson tallied twice, providing the offence for Blackfalds, which got 26 saves from goaltender Lane Brann.

Joel Lepper picked up the win between the pipes for the Lightning, stopping 32-of-37 shots on the night.

STETTLER – Dylan Houston scored twice as the Stettler Lightning skated to a 6-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday night.

Mark Bengert, Logan Davison, Kieran Rost and Rylee Jacobson also found the back of the net for Stettler (9-9-1), which held leads of 1-0 after 20 minutes and 4-1 going into the final frame.

Ryan Spiller tallied the lone goal for Three Hills (5-13-1), which have now lost six straight.

Lane Congdon stopped 17-of-18 shots faced between the pipes for the Lightning, while Greg Pols made 36 saves in the Three Hills crease.

Strathmore Wheatland Kings (2)

OKOTOKS – A two-goal effort from Joshua McCulloch paced the Okotoks Bisons to a 6-2 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Friday evening at Murray Arena.

Robbie McLean finished with a goal and two helpers for the Bisons (12-8-0), while goaltender Matthew McDonald made 27 saves between the pipes.

The Bisons led 1-0 after one period of play and 4-1 going into the final frame.

Jaret Bordt, Spencer Bender and Nicholas Murrell each added a single for Okotoks to round out the scoring.

Brady Hoover made 45 saves in the Strathmore (7-10-3) crease, while Brooker Pretty Youngman and Cole Busslinger provided the offence.

High River Flyers (1)

HIGH RIVER – Seven different players found the back of the net as the Coaldale Copperheads used a balanced attack to skate to a 7-1 victory over the High River Flyers at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex on Friday night.

Calvin Swanson led the charge with a goal and two helpers, while MacKenzie Karl, Ryan Swier and Matt Krusky each added a goal and assist.

Tyler Anderson, Brendon Benson and Brady Paranteau rounded out the Coaldale (14-4-1) attack, each netting a single.

Dylan Swanson made 26 saves to earn the win between the pipes.

Bryce Shegelski turned aside 33 shots in the High River (6-14-0) crease.

Mountainview Colts (9)
Ponoka Stampeders (2)

DIDSBURY – Colton Anderson and Mitchell Visser each tallied a hat trick to power the Mountainview Colts to a convincing 9-2 win over the Ponoka Stampeders on Friday.

Anderson also added two helpers, while Visser added one assist as the duo combined for nine points on the night.

Cole Sutherland and Tyson Schmidt also had four-point evenings, each finished with a goal and three helpers, while Evan Ingram rounded out the Mountainview (15-3-2) attack with a goal and one helper.

Jake Carlson made 25 saves between the pipes to pick up the win.

Nate Higgins tallied both goals for Ponoka (5-14-2), which got 35 saves from netminder Carter Gendreau.
