BLACKFALDS – Kade Taplin stopped 35-of-38 shots between the pipes to lift the Airdrie Thunder to a 5-3 win over the Blackfalds Wranglers on Sunday.

Clay Murray scored twice, including the eventual winner, giving him 100 HJHL goals in his career.

Dante Raposo, Dylan McCuaig and Rylan Plante-Crough rounded out the scoring for Airdrie (20-6-2), which held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and a 3-1 lead going into the third period.

Brenden Davidson scored twice for the Wranglers (16-10-0), while Ryan Chambers added a single.

MEDICINE HAT – Brooker Pretty Youngman scored three times as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings held on for a wild 7-5 win over the Medicine Hat Cubs on Sunday.

George Montour finished the day with two goals and three helpers for the Wheatland Kings (10-14-3), while Zachary Meadows and Brenden Moore each potted a single.

Indiana Kelly turned in a 40-save performance between the pipes.

Quinten Karg had a hat trick for the Cubs (5-18-5), while Keegan Bartram scored once and setup three more. Mackenzie Fritzler chipped in with a single, while Kayden Pickles made 41 saves in goal.

Banff Bears (2)

BANFF – Tyson Schmidt scored twice and setup two more as the Mountainview Colts rolled to a 7-2 win over the Banff Bears on Sunday at the Banff Recreation Centre.

After a scoreless first period, Schmidt, Trey Wallace and Cole Sutherland would each find the back of the net in the middle frame to give the Colts (21-3-2) at 3-0 lead going into the final 20 minutes.

Keaton Perigny, Evan Ingram and Jack Vergouwen rounded out the scoring, while Thomas Della Siega made 30 saves between the pipes.

Mitchell Wainman and Therann Kincross had the goals for Banff (6-18-2), while Michael Binczyk made 27 saves in net.

Mountainview has now won eight consecutive games.
