RED DEER – Kale Lapointe scored the winner with 1:45 remaining in overtime as the Red Deer Vipers upended the Mountainview Colts by a 4-3 score on Saturday night.

Mack Differenz had a goal and assist in regulation for the Vipers (23-10-1), which have now won three straight.

Logan Linnell and Lane Sim also tallied regulation goals for Red Deer, which held a 3-0 lead early in the second period before the Colts (26-6-3) would storm back to tie it.

Mitchell Visser, Keaton Perigny and Wyatt Gelinas did the dame for Mountainview, while Thomas Della Seiga finished the night with 32 saves.

Branden Bilodeau stopped 34-of-37 shots in the Red Deer crease.

Ponoka Stampeders (2)

BANFF – Philip Schader scored twice including the winner as the Banff Bears secured a 5-2 win over the Ponoka Stampeders on Saturday night at the Banff Recreation Centre, clinching a post-season berth along the way.

Schader scored 58 seconds into the middle stanza for his second of the night to break a 2-2 deadlock after 20 minutes, while Nathan Cohen-Wallis sealed the deal with a pair of third period markers.

Therann Kincross rounded out the Banff (10-20-3) scoring with a goal and two helpers, while Dominik Vollenwieder stopped 42-of-44 shots faced between the pipes.

Walker Guthrie and Nate Higgins provided the offence for Ponoka (8-24-3), which have now lost seven straight.

Carter Gendreau made 40 saves in the loss.

High River (3)

SIKSIKA – Cole Busslinger found the back of the net twice as the Strathmore Wheatland Kings were 6-3 winners over the High River Flyers on Saturday night.

Brooker Pretty Youngman finished with a goal and two helpers, while Christian Halman, Brenden Moore and Kristian Ayoungman each added a single.

Indiana Kelly made 37 saves to pick up the win between the barber poles for Strathmore (14-16-4), which held a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes, only to find themselves tied 3-3 going into the final frame.

Davis Sheldon, Luka Sokol and Kody Briggs tallied for High River (8-26-2), while Billy Cawthorn made 22 saves.

Three Hills Thrashers (2)

THREE HILLS – Jacob MacDonald and Rylan Plante-Crough each scored twice and setup another as the Airdire Thunder skated to a 6-2 win over the Three Hills Thrashers on Saturday evening.

Nicholas Noel and Tristan Paquette also tallied for Airdrie (26-7-3), which scored five times in the second period alone, after opening up a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Joel Lepper picked up his 13th win of the season in net, making 33 saves along the way.

Tyrell McCubbing and Cody Phillips replied for Three Hills (6-27-1), which are six points out of a playoff spot with four games to go.

Greg Pols stopped 48-of-54 shots in a losing effort.

Okotoks Bisons (1)

COCHRANE – Connor Rendell scored four times to five him 50 goals on the season as the Cochrane Generals routed the Okotoks Bisons by a 7-1 score on Saturday evening.

Rendell tallied once in the first period, once in the middle stanza and then tacked on two more in the third period as the Generals (31-4-1) cruised to their 11th straight win.

Chad Harrison chipped in with a goal and two helpers, while Austin Keller and Talus Hume each added a single.

Ty Robinson stopped 22-of-23 shots between the pipes, while Slater Ransom finished the night with four assists.

Joshua McCulloch scored the lone goal for the Bisons (24-10-1), while Matthew McDonald was busy in net, making 58 saves in the game.

Coaldale Copperheads (11)
Medicine Hat Cubs (2)

COALDALE – The Coaldale Copperheads scored early and scored often on their way to an 11-2 romp over the Medicine Hat Cubs.

Logan McKay, Clay Spencer and Ryan Swier netted two goals apiece, while Brendon Benson, Graham Dugdale and Austyn Moser each finished with a goal and assist as the Copperheads (22-12-2) scored four times in each of the opening two periods, before tacking on three more in the final frame.

Levi Anderson and Jayden Smith rounded out the scoring, while Dillan Kelly made 18 saves for the win between the pipes.

Kayden Pickles was swarmed in the Cubs’ (7-22-6), making 66 saves in the game.

Alex Duclos and Ryan Fauth had the Medicine Hat goals.
