Generals dominant again, take commanding series lead

COCHRANE – Ryan Simpson stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shutout as the Cochrane Generals took a 3-0 stranglehold on their best-of-seven series with a 7-0 win over the Banff Bears on Saturday.

Chad Harrison finished the night with four points, two goals and two assists, while Corey Goeson, Connor Rendell, Walid Hassin, Slater Ransom and Colton Wong each chipped in with a single.

The Generals led 3-0 after 20 minutes after outshooting the Bears 24-6 in the frame. They would extend the lead to 5-0 going into the third period, where they tacked on two more.

Dominik Vollenweider made 47 saves in the Bears’ crease.

Cochrane can finish off the series on Sunday in Banff at 2:30pm. A Generals win on Sunday will advance them to the South Division Championship Series against either Okotoks or Coaldale.
