Visser, Colts take 2-1 series lead over Wranglers

BLACKFALDS – Mitchell Visser scored twice as the Mountainview Colts were 6-4 winners over the Blackfalds Wranglers on Sunday afternoon, giving them a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven North Division semifinal series.

Colton Anderson and Corbin Houchin each finished with a goal and assist for the Colts, while Benjamin Strautman and Spencer Dowd each chipped in with a single. Thomas Della Siega finished with 22 saves on the day.

The Colts lead 3-1 after the first period and 5-2 after 40 minutes. Visser netted his second of the game just 44 seconds into the third period to make it a 6-2 game, but the Wranglers wouldn’t go away.

Landon Siegle tallied a pair of power-play goals just 1:05 a part to bring the Wranglers within two, but that would be as close as they would get.

Ryan Chambers and Shawn Rowe had the other goals for the Wranglers.

Special teams played a pivotal role in this one as the Colts went 4-for-5 on the man-advantage, while Blackfalds converted on 2-of-5 attempts.

Game 4 of the series goes Tuesday evening in Blackfalds at 7:30pm.
