Anderson scores OT winner as Coaldale stays alive

COALDALE – Thanks to Levi Anderson, the Coaldale Copperheads live to fight another day.

Anderson found the back of the net 3:36 into overtime to lift the Copperheads to a 5-4 win over the Okotoks Bisons on Tuesday evening. Okotoks leads the best-of-seven South Division semifinal series 3-1.

Dillan Kelly finished with 34 saves for Coaldale, which got a pair of goals from Jayden Smith.

Calvin Swanson scored once and added two assists, while Brendon Benson rounded out the scoring with a single.

The Bisons led 3-2 going into the third period before Coaldale would score twice prior to the midway mark to take the lead. Connor Tudor, who finished with two goals on the night, found the back of the net with 54 seconds remaining to force overtime, marking the third straight meeting between these two clubs that has gone past 60 minutes.

Mark McLeod had a goal and two helpers, while Bradley Whitehead netted his second of the post-season.

Matthew McDonald made 39 saves between the pipes for the Bisons.

Okotoks can once again close out the series on Friday night, this time on home ice at Murray Arena. Puck drop is slated for 8:00pm.
