OKOTOKS – Staving off elimination. For the third time in a row.
A four-goal second period paced the Coaldale Copperheads to a 5-1 win over the Okotoks Bisons in Game 6 on Saturday evening, forcing a decisive Game 7 in their best-of-seven South Division semifinal series.
The Copperheads trailed 3-0 in the series before reeling off three straight victories.
Sam Paskuski and Ryan Swier each finished with a goal and assist for Coaldale on Saturday, while Calvin Swanson, Brendon Benson and Graham Douglas each added a single.
MacKenzie Karl led all skaters with four points in the night, all assists, while goaltender Dillan Kelly turned in a 31-save performance.
Mark McLeod had the lone goal for Okotoks, which led 1-0 after 20 minutes before the Coaldale offence came alive in the middle frame.
Game 7 goes Sunday in Okotoks. Puck drop at Murray Arena is slated for 1:15pm.
The winner will face the Cochrane Generals in the best-of-seven South Division final.
