Hume scores winner late; Generals even series

COCHRANE – Talus Hume scored the winner with 46 seconds remaining in the third period to lift the Cochrane Generals to a 3-2 win over the Coaldale Copperheads Friday night in Game 2 of their now tied best-of-seven South Division final series.

The teams played to a scoreless opening frame before the Copperheads took a 2-1 lead into third period thanks to goals from Brady Parenteau and Brendon Benson.

Will Gretton found the equalizer for the Generals 6:56 into the final frame and then Hume would give them the go-ahead goal in the final minute.

Ty Robinson turned aside 27 shots to pick up the win between the pipes for Cochrane, while Connor Rendell added a second period marker.

Dillan Kelly stopped 39-of-42 shots in the Coaldale crease.

The series now shifts back to Coaldale for Game 3 on Saturday night. Puck drop goes at 8:30pm.
