Kelly backstops Copperheads to Game 4 victory

COALDALE – A 51-save performance from Dillan Kelly helped the Coaldale Copperheads hang onto a 3-2 win over the Cochrane Generals on Wednesday night, evening up their best-of-seven South Division Final series at two games apiece.

After a scoreless first period, Calvin Swanson opened the scoring 2:19 into the middle stanza to give the Copperheads a 1-0 win going into the final frame.

Ryan Swier and Brendon Benson each found the back of the net before the midway mark of the third period to extend the Coaldale lead to 3-0. However, the Generals would claw their way back into it thanks to goals from Slater Ransom and Chad Harrison.

For Kelly, who made 27 saves in the third period alone, his 51-saves match a season-high dating back to January 20 of the regular season.

Ty Robinson turned aside 16-of-19 shots fired his way in the Cochrane crease.

Game 5 goes Friday night in Cochrane at 7:30pm.
