Rendell powers Generals to Game 5 win

COCHRANE – The Cochrane Generals are a win away from advancing to the HJHL Final and they can thank Connor Rendell for that.

Rendell scored three times, including the winner with 2:19 remaining in the game, as the Generals held on for a 4-3 win over the Coaldale Copperheads on Friday night, taking a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven series.

Talus Hume had the other goal for the Generals, while Chad Harrison and Slater Ransom each finished with a pair of helpers.

Ty Robinson made 26 saves between the barber poles to pick up his sixth win of the post-season.

Matthew Nadeau had a pair of goals for the Copperheads, while Matt Krusky added a single.

Dillan Kelly was busy between the pipes, stopping 60-of-64 shots fired his way.

Game 6 of the series goes Saturday night in Coaldale at 8:30pm.
