Heartbreaker.
The Cochrane Generals were one goal away from winning the Alberta Junior B Provincial Championship, falling 5-4 in overtime to the Wainwright Bisons on Sunday.
Zachary MacKay scored the golden goal for the Bisons 14:32 into the extra frame.
The two teams were deadlocked 2-2 after 20 minutes, before the Generals found themselves down 4-3 going into the final frame where Slater Ransom would find the equalizer just 3:31 in.
Joey Stensland, Brandon Aab and Corey Goeson rounded out the Cochrane scoring, while goaltender Ryan Simpson made 45 saves between the pipes.
The loss marks the end of the season for the Heritage Junior Hockey League.
