Weekend action in the SEHL saw a light schedule on Friday night, with the Rocanville Tigers renewing their rivalry with the Esterhazy Flyers. Paced by Jordan Robertson’s two goal and four point outing, the Tigers rolled to an 8-2 victory. Other Tigers’ notables included Ashley Howie with three assists, and Troy Hamilton with a brace of goals. Trey Bear and Ty Collins responded with goals for the Flyers, who also saw Dustin Skilliter drop the mitts with the Tigers’ Willie Bulbuck. Kieren Madill was between the pipes for the Tigers, while ex-Tiger Dakota Berezowski took the loss for the Flyers.
Saturday night featured four games, including a short-staffed Langenburg Warriors squad making the trek up to Minitonas to take on the Swan Valley Axemen. Rylee Zimmer put the Warriors on his back, racking up two goals and five points in a 6-2 Warriors win. Langenburg’s Josh Thompson notched two goals and two assists on the night, with Nick Carlson and Hayden Wiebe rounding out the scoring for the Warriors. Carter Cockburn and Jeff Riddell replied for the Axemen. Brenden Birch-Hayden faced 45 shots for the win, while Deven Dubyk saw 39 shots for the loss.
In Cote First Nation, the Selects hosted the Rocanville Tigers for the Tigers’ inaugural visit to Cote’s new rink. Never in doubt, the Tigers notched four goals in the first period en route to an 13-0 shellacking of the Selects. Jordan Robertson’s scorching hot weekend continued, as he racked up five goals and seven points to lead the Tigers. Dillan Reavie had a goal and four assists for the Tigers, and the only Tiger to not record a point on the night was Stephane Robidoux. Ben Fouillard recorded the shutout, with Zack Cote in net for the Selects.
The Kaminski Arena in Churchbridge saw the Imperials hosting the Theodore Buffalos. Continuing a theme, the visiting Buffs emerged on the right side of an 8-1 score. Grayson Neufeld and Dylan Johnson paced the attack for the Buffs, each recording four points. Newly-signed Jeff Lucky added an assist for the Buffs, and Warren Shymko earned the dub in net. Drew Putland from Zach McGriskin and Mike Cross was the only goal for the Imps, while Ryan Bezon went the distance in the cage for Churchbridge.
It was a spirited affair in Canora, where the Cobras bucked the trend and defeated the visiting Wapella Blackhawks 6-3. Tied at one after the first period, the Cobras ended the second period up 3-2, and pulled away with two early goals in the third. Kody Rock recorded the eventual game winner for Canora, who were led by Logan Foster’s four points and Derrick Schwartz’s two goals and one assist outing. For Wapella, Evan Armstrong provided stout defence, as well as a goal and an assist, while Dawson Garvey potted a pair of goals. Matt D’Orazio kept the Hawks in this one, turning away 45 of the 51 shots he faced. Rylan Palchewich made 20 stops for the win. Late game shenanigans included Cobra Ryley Stefanyshyn in a one man fight, and Troy Murray with a game misconduct for being the third man in.
