Playoffs on the Horizon

Playoffs on the Horizon

the NCHL

As we enter the second last weekend of the regular season. teams will be jockeying for their final placement to determine the playoff matchups.

Lacombe, with their win over over Wetaskiwin back on January 10th, locked down their third President's Cup in four seasons and will have home ice advantage in all playoff series. The Generals will finish the regular season with road games at Camrose and Devon.

Wetaskiwin (2nd), Innisfail (3rd) and Stony Plain (4th) are ensured to be in the top four however their rankings could change depending on the outcomes of their remaining games. Innisfail however, only has one game remaining, while Wetaskiwin and Stony Plain each have two games remaining.

Camrose (5th), Devon (6th), Bonnyville (7th) and Westlock (8th) are relegated to the bottom half of the standings and there could be some movement between them depending on game outcomes.  Each of these teams have 3 games remaining except Westlock who have two games remaining.

If the playoffs started today, the matchups would be:

Westlock at Lacombe
Bonnyville at Wetaskiwin
Devon at Innisfail
Camrose at Stony Plain

The last two weeks of the season will be interesting to see where the teams stack up.

The playoffs are scheduled to start the Feb 8th weekend. The first and second rounds are a best of five and the finals are a best of seven.
