Innisfail Moves on to the Vanberg Cup Finals

The Innisfail Eagles defeated the Wetaskiwin Longhorns 4-1 on Sunday in game 4 of their semi-final series played in Innisfail to move on to the Vanberg Cup finals versus the Lacombe Generals. After losing game 1 in Wetaskiwin 5-1, Innisfail won games 2 and 3 in overtime. Game 4 wasn't decidedly close as Innisfail outplayed, out hustled and outshot the Longhorns 48-25 and only the outstanding play of goaltender Devin Buffalo kept the game close.

Innsfail's goaltender Chance Griffith was again solid in net for the Eagles, while Chance Longjohn scored twice with singles coming from Mike Marianchuk and Dave Nippard. Justin Faryna replied for the Longhorns who, coincidentally lost three games in a row for the first time this season.

The Vanberg Cup finals will start this weekend and the schedule will be posted as soon as the teams make the arrangements.
