Summary of the 2024 Annual General Meeting

SCWHL

A need for more volunteers highlighted the agenda of the 2024 annual general meeting of the South Coast Women’s Hockey League.
At the mid-July meeting teams were notified of the departures of long-time volunteers John and Pat Korenic, who are stepping down from their positions as statistician (John) and registrar (Pat). Longtime volunteers with the Richmond Ravels female minor program and the Senior AA SCWHL, Pat and John were recognized and thanked for their many years of service to female hockey and their immense contributions to the SCWHL. As volunteers with both the Richmond Devils and the SCWHL executive, both have had a very positive influence in the growth of the league.
In addition to the volunteers needed to replace John and Pat, the league also committed to finding individuals to serve as volunteers as media relations coordinator, webmaster, photography editor, and social media coordinator(s). Job descriptions for these volunteer positions are here.
The representatives of the eight teams in the SCWHL also agreed to continue with a 28-game regular season schedule, and the current six-team playoff tournament structure, and confirmed the confirmation of the Fraser Valley Jets relocation from North Delta to Chilliwack for the 2024-25 season.
Ther other seven teams in the SCWHL (Island Surge, Kamloops Vibe, Surrey Wildcats, South Fraser TNT, North Shore Rebels, Richmond Devils and Meadow Ridge Moose) all confirmed their participation for 2024-25.
The regular season will begin Thursday, Oct. 3 and will run through to Sunday, Mar. 23. The SCWHL/Provincial Championship playoff tournament will be Mar. 28-30 in Chilliwack.
