The Ochapowace Thunder built a 5-1 lead and had to hang on for a 7-5 win over the Esterhazy Flyers on Wednesday night as the Triangle Hockey League season opened up.
Tony Kinistino scored twice to lead the Thunder attack, while Jonas Thomson and Riley Currie each contributed a goal and two assists. Other singles came from the sticks of Caine Bear, Kirkland Cameron, and Wilson Dumais.
Scott Woytas had a goal and three assists for Esterhazy. Adamik Frumen and Koal Roberts each picked up a pair of goals for the Flyers.
