THUNDER INCHING TOWARDS FIRST

THUNDER INCHING TOWARDS FIRST

The Ochapowace Thunder moved to within one point of first place with a dominating weekend performance over the Hudson Bay Hunters.

On Sunday afternoon, Trey Bear and Brandon Pelletier had hat tricks in a 17-2 onslaught.  Anthony Kinistino added two goals and four assists as a number of players enjoyed banner weekends on the score sheet.  Valdez Bear added two goals and two assists, while Clint Lomenda also chipped in with two goals.  Singles came from Kirk Bear, Konrad McKay, Ken Lavallee, Leland Wasacase, and Jonas Thomson.  Cody Chasse had both Hudson Bay goals.

On Saturday, the Thunder dominated the Hunters 16-6.  Lomenda, McKay, and Pelletier all had seven points with Lomenda scoring three and McKay and Pelletier counting two.  Kirk Bear had two as well and Kinistino ended up with a hat trick.  Dennis Peepeetch, Trey Bear, Valdez Bear, and Wasacase rounded out the scoring.  It spoiled a great game by Chasse, who was in on all Hudson Bay goals this weekend, as he had three goals and three assists in this one.  Devon Tobacco had two and Tyler Grove one.

Dan Wilson and Riley Stefanyshyn scored late third period goals to boost Theodore to a 6-5 win over Esterhazy.  Eric Kuzek was the big producer in this one for the Buffs, getting two goals and three assists.  Derrick Schwartz and Dallyn Holmstrom added singles for the winning side.  Justin Keller and Colton Schick each had a goal and two helpers for the Flyers.  Mike Rogoschewsky, Scott Woytas, and Jeff Bilton rounded out the scoring.

The first game of the weekend saw Kody Rock break a 3-3 tie with under six minutes remaining in the third period as that sent Bredenbury to a 4-3 decision over the Flyers on Friday night.  Drew Putland had tied it at three less than a minute before that.  Carson Dennis, Zach Korchinski, and Tristin Kozter also scored for the first place Cougars.  Brett Helmczi and Schick also scored for the Flyers.
