SATURDAY NIGHT RECAP

SATURDAY NIGHT RECAP

The Esterhazy Flyers used a strong powerplay to build a 5-2 lead and that allowed them to hang on for a 6-5 win over the Hudson Bay Hunters on Saturday night to improve to 3-and-4 on the season.

Cole Paquin and Colton Schick with a pair, all three while on the man advantage, busted open a 2-2 game in the second period.

Paquin and Schick both finished with two goals each while singles came from Matthew Selin and Byers Johanson.

Camacho Lathlin had three goals and five points for the Hunters and Cody Chasse added the other two scores for Hudson Bay.

Lathlin scored two a little over a minute apart early in the third to draw his team to within 5-4.  It stayed that way until Johanson made it 6-4 with three and a half to go.  Chasse had a goal in the waning moments to close out the scoring.

The same two teams play Sunday afternoon in Esterhazy.

Rance Thomson and Alfie Bear scored in the third period to lift Ochapowace over Theodore 6-4.

Wilson Dumais and Tony Kinistino each scored once and set up two others to lead the offense.  Caine Bear and Brandon Pelletier also had goals for the Thunder who maintain second place in the standings.

The Buffs got a goal and an assist from Riley Stefanyshyn and Eric Kuzek.  Jordan Repsch and Jordan Evans also scored for Theodore.

On Friday, Bredenbury defeated the Thunder 7-5 in a penalty filled affair that saw a number of infractions that resulted in suspensions.

Clarke Byczynski scored two and had three points.  Tanner Mack had a goal and three points.  Colby Jacob, Lee Janett, Kody Rock, and Zach Korchinski rounded out the scoring for the Cougars, who have yet to lose in regulation.

Kinistino and Jonas Thomson each scored twice for the Thunder, as Kinistino ends up with a 7 point weekend in 2 games played.  Caine Bear also scored.
