PRE CHRISTMAS WEEKEND RECAP

PRE CHRISTMAS WEEKEND RECAP

The Theodore Buffalos took advantage of a shortstaffed Hudson Bay Hunters lineup and demolished them 12-5 on Saturday night to close out the pre-Christmas schedule.

It could be a big win for the Buffs, who improve to 2-3-and-1 and are now three points ahead of Hudson Bay for the final playoff position.

Theodore built up a 5-0 lead by the two and a half minute mark of the second period and the Hunters were just never able to get themselves in it.

Dallyn Holmstrom scored three times in the final seven minutes of the second period to increase the lead to 9-3.  Fourteen different players hit the scoresheet as Andrew Dingle, Bryce Pelechaty, and Logan Calanchie all picked up two.  Singles went to Eric Kuzek, Riley Stefanyshyn, and Derrick Schwartz.

Camacho Lathlin scored three for the Hunters with Conner Kovach and Kenan Dennis adding singles.  Hudson Bay is back home next weekend against Ochapowace on Saturday and Sunday.

The Buffs are home to Bredenbury on Saturday.

Friday night, Esterhazy outlasted Ochapowace 10-9 to improve to 5-a nd-4 and move into second place in the standings.

The Flyers fought back from being down 4-1 after one and 8-6 after two.  Chris McAllister tied the game at 9 with eight and a half to go and then Michael Rogoschewsky's powerplay goal less than a minute later put them in front to stay.

It was Rogoschewsky's fourth of the game.  Byers Johanson and Cole Paquin scored twice each.  Jon Urzada also scored for Esterhazy.

Anthony Kinistino had three for the Thunder and WIlson Dumais picked up two.  Jonas Thomson, Leland Wasacase, Brandon Pelletier, and Kirk Bear rounded out the goal scoring for Ochapowace.

The same two teams will play January 10th at Ochapowace.
